A Night Out with Pahlmeyer Wines at Bacchanalias
Bacchanalias

Dear Members,

For our first of two events in July, we are pleased to have Mr. Jeff Cook, the Export Director representing Pahlmeyer, introducing the Napa and Sonoma wines of Pahlmeyer. Mr. Cook will present signature wines from this elite Northern California producer, including the Merlot and Napa Chardonnay as well as two vintages of the iconic “Bordeaux blend,” the Proprietary Red.

Pahlmeyer has been producing highly sought-after wines from Napa Valley since 1986. It all began with owner Mr. Jayson Pahlmeyer's dream of making a world-class “Bordeaux blend” in Napa Valley. And finding himself reading more wine journals than law journals, then trial attorney Jayson Pahlmeyer decided to stop his legal work to pursue his dream. After several trips to France and years of perseverance later, Jayson Pahlmeyer, with the aid of professors of viticulture and oenology at the University of Bordeaux, isolated the exact Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec vines that Jayson Pahlmeyer felt had the greatest intensity, depth of flavor and character. Jayson Pahlmeyer had these vines imported into California and used them to plant a Napa Valley vineyard in 1981. Pahlmeyer released its first wine in 1986, the 1986 Pahlmeyer Red Table Wine. The rest as they say is history. Pahlmeyer has gone from strength to strength since its first release and is considered amongst the top echelon of Napa wineries, consistently producing elite Chardonnay, Merlot and “Bordeaux blends” and, more recently, Pinot Noir.

Paired with these outstanding wines is the innovative and award-winning cuisine of Bacchanalia. Bacchanalia won “Best New Restaurant” at both World Gourmet Summit 2014 and Peak Magazine’s G-Awards 2014. Helmed by the highly-skilled and talented culinary trio who spent years training at Heston Blumenthal's highly-acclaimed The Fat Duck, Bacchanalia celebrates innovation with reinvented classics and distinctive, thought-provoking creations. Under the culinary direction of Executive Head Chef Ivan Brehm, who has also worked in the kitchens of Per Se (New York City), Mugaritz (San Sebastian) and Hibiscus (London), Bacchanalia presents familiar flavours in unfamiliar ways by using techniques and premium ingredients from around the world.

We are grateful to Water and Wine, Mr. Jeff Cook and Pahlmeyer for making this event possible. Members will have priority over guests during the first forty-eight (48) hours after the sending out of this bulletin. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
