We kick off this brand new year with touches of silver from California. We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Ms. Vivien Gay, International Sales Manager for Silver Oak and Twomey Cellars, and the folks at Excaliber Wines to organise a special dinner featuring wines from Silver Oak and Twomey Cellars, paired with the Asian cuisine of Paradise Pavillon.
Silver Oak started in 1972 with the sole vision to produce 100% Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. In the hands of the late Justin Meyers, its very first winemaker, Silver Oak’s Cabernet Sauvignon achieved cult status among collectors, and continuously sells out vintage after vintage. Today, Silver Oak not only maintains its family ownership and management, it continue to produce 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley and Alexander Valley. In 1999, Silver Oak established Twomey Cellars to extend its portfolio to include Pinot Noir, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc.
Older vintages of California Cabernet Sauvignon can be either difficult to find, or expensive or a combination of both. Fortunately, we were able to source an older vintage of both Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignons to enhance the dinner experience. And no vintage best showcases California Cabernet Sauvignon like 1994. Robert Parker wrote…"1994 still ranks as one of California's greatest modern day vintages for Cabernet Sauvignon and proprietary red wines . . . . What makes 1994 [one of the finest vintages of the 1990s] is the fact that the wines are rich yet approachable, aromatic, with wonderful sweet, rich, multi-layered textures, ripe, well-integrated tannin, and low acidity. The wines have been approachable since conception, yet continue to indicate that they will be long-lived classics of remarkable symmetry and opulence."
Not only are we featuring 1994, it will also be a mini horizontal tasting, featuring both the Napa Valley and Alexander Valley bottlings of Silver Oaks’ Cabernet Sauvignon. Don’t miss this unique opportunity of exploring vintage California Cabernet Sauvignon paired with the exquisite cuisine of Paradise Pavilion.
