For the Cellarmaster selection for the month of May, in May - I think of Roses - where else can we find notes of roses in wine than to journey to the lands of Piedmonte, Italy where we have the opportunity to taste wonderful Barolos from our cellars. To pair with the wines, we have worked with Chef Gabriele Piegaia to design with a special 8 course for this event.
For startthe event, we begin with a sparkling with Ferrari Trento Brut Perle 2007. Ferrari has been Italy’s sparkling wine par excellence since 1902.The irresistible elegance of its bubbles celebrates Italy’s lust for life and beauty.
Next we compare a pair 2010 1er cru Chablis: a Domaine and Maison. A Domaine Long-Depaquit Chablis 1er Cru Les Vaucoupins 2010 and Maison Simonnet-Febvre Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre 2010.
Then we begin our Barolo night with Conterno Fantino Barolo Sori Ginestra 2000 from the family of Conterno Fantino found in 1982 in which a cru Ginestra from village Monforte d’Alba. With Azelia Barolo San Rocco 2007 from the family of Azienda Agricola Azelia in Castiglione Falletto found in 1920.
After the two families, we head off to Aldo Conterno where we will have the GranBussia Barolo Bussia Reserva 1996. (a blend of 3 Bussia wineyards Romirasco Cicala and Colonnello) Only 600 cases is produced per vintage
Next the family of Gaja for Gaja Sperss 1999 DOCG. (100% Nebbiolo) with 12 months in barriques followed by 12 months in large oak casks to finish off the last wine of Piedmonte.
This event will be held at an Italian restaurant. The restaurant is along Stanley Road within the Central Business District.
