TERROIRS OF BURGUNDY
Maison Ikkoku
 

Dear Members

We are pleased to invite you to our next event, which will be held at Maison Ikkoku – The Gallery. As promised, we have drawn upon many gems of Burgundy from our own cellars.

Maison Ikkoku – The Gallery is a chic restaurant in a contemporary art gallery that combines art, culture, and lifestyle to deliver a unique experience. The menu will comprise of a selection of European Japanese delicacies.

To pair with the menu, we have a wonderful selection of Burgundy wines that are at their prime evolution for drinking.

The aperitif is a brut blanc de blanc champagne from two
top vineyards in the village of Vertus: Les Barillers and Les Faucherets. The champagne undergoes its alcoholic and malolactic fermentations in old oak casks and is aged a minimum of four years in the cellar prior to disgorgement.

The first wine pair is two 2006 Puligny Montrachet premier cru Les Referts white Burgundies, from Domaine Etienne Sauzet, and a new winemaker J.M. Boillot who is Etienne Sauzet’s grandson! This will be a unique opportunity to taste two different styles of winemaking
from a floral and relatively full-bodied plot.

The second pair will be a pair of charming red Burgundies from Chambolle Musigny premier cru Les Charmes, a 1996 from Domaine Amiot Servelle, and a 1999 from Domaine Ponsot. Both great vintages from great winemakers that provide for an interesting comparison.

The final pair consists of two neighbouring but different Grand Crus in the Gevrey-Chambertin area. The red fruit and earthiness of the 1995 Charmes Chambertin from Domaine Maume will contrast with the intense complex aromas of the 1996 Mazis Chambertin from Camille
Giroud

We have 40 seats for this event and members will have the usual priority in first 48 hours, with significant pricing discount compared to guests. Please note that no cancellations will be entertained for this event, as it is one week prior to the event.
